Empties #1 - September 2012

I am going to share with you some products that I have used up over a period of time and tell you a bit about them and whether I liked them and whether I will re-purchase them or not. These were not used up in one month, but over several, but I’ll try and do monthly ones. In no particular order.....

bliss Blood Orange + White Pepper Body Butter – 50ml
I received this in a glossybox and it is the 50ml travel size and it smells really lovely. I don’t like orange scents, but this smelt really nice. It is paraben free and it really makes your body feel moisturised and the scent makes you feel clean. I used it on my arms and legs mostly. I really liked using this product, but I wouldn’t re-purchase it because I have three full size Soap & Glory body butters to use up and my favourite is Soap & Glory The Daily Smooth Body Butter, but if I ever fancy a change this one would be my first choice, maybe in the Lemon + Sage scent!

LUSH Snow Fairy Shower Gel – 250g
This product is only on sale at Christmas time and the nearest LUSH to me is an hour away so I ordered it off eBay because I kept reading raves about it, so I had to have it. It didn’t smell amazing or special at all and I don’t like the scent, it smelt too artificial, but I did use it up and it did lather really well, it looked really nice in the bottle, but I will not re-purchase it, but hey, it was vegan!

CAUDALIE Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum – 10ml
I also received this product in a glossybox and it is the 10ml sample size. This smells amazing and I used it at night and in the morning everyday under my regular moisturiser. A serum is a moisturiser, but it goes deeper into the skin. It did make my face feel more moisturised, but I wouldn’t say it made a huge difference and I wouldn’t say I really need to use a serum yet. I will not re-purchase this because it is too expensive and I don’t really need a serum or see the difference, plus I was going to try the Soap & Glory one, just so I had one to use, but if you don’t really need it a basic moisturiser should do the job.

Murad Skin Perfecting Dewy Finish Face Primer – 5ml
This too came from a glossybox and it is a 5ml sample size, the full size is 30ml. The actual product is an orange/brown colour and looks like foundation, but a lot thinner in consistency. It says you could wear it alone, but there’s no way I would! When you blend it into the skin, the colour disappears, so no coverage for wearing alone. Also my foundation didn’t really last any longer, nor did my pores look smaller and I couldn’t see a dewy finish. Maybe it wasn’t the right type for my skin, but I think the product was too thin and dry, which mean’t it didn’t blend very far. I wouldn’t re-purchase this because, it is way too expensive for what it is and I don’t feel it did anything for me, but I’m glad I got the chance to try it, as it is an expensive brand.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder – 14g
I bought this is the shade 001 Transparent and it was the first powder I had ever used and it is my favourite and definitely keeps me matte all day. I have already re-purchased and will probably continue to for months to come.

Ayuuri Natural Coconut Body Wash – 200ml
I got this product in a Glossybox and it smells really nice to say it is coconut. I don’t like the coconut scent, but I do really like this body wash, as the coconut is not overpowering and it lathers really well too. Although I like it I probably wouldn’t re-purchase it because I would have to do it online, plus I am already in love with a different shower gel.

Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Cleanser – 200ml
I got this because I had a different one before, and I wanted one that had a property, such as, blackhead clearing and it needed to be oil free. I thought it would help my cheek/nose area, because that’s where my pores tend to get clogged the most. Since using it I haven't really noticed a difference, but I have recently found, that if you have oily skin you shouldn’t cut oily products out altogether, as it can be bad for your skin. So since I finished this cleanser, I decided that my ‘oily’ product should be a new cleanser. Therefore I will not re-purchase this product, unless I really don’t like the new one I am currently using.

KK Toiletries Classics Nail Polish Remover – 250ml
This is just a basic cheap nail polish remover. It does work quite well, but glitter polish is still a struggle. I will continue purchasing this because it is reliable and cheap and it is not really a type of product I want to “invest” in.

Katie Price Stunning Luxurious Foaming Bath Gel – 150ml
I got this in a gift set and it smells exactly like the perfume. It lathers really well and smells amazing. I wouldn’t buy it again, because I can only find it online and there are a lot of great smelling body washes that are in stores and cheaper.

NOBLE ISLE Summer Rising Cornish Hedgerows Bath & Shower Gel – 75ml
I got this in a beauty box and it is a sample size. I really like it, and it lathers really well and smells really amazing. It reminds me of a Lion King perfume I had when I was younger. I wouldn’t re-purchase, because it is only available to me online and I already have a favourite body wash, which will probably be the only one I use, unless I have samples to use up!

APIVITA Express Beauty Revitalizing Mask with Orange – 8ml
I received two sachets of this in a beauty box and they are full size. Me and my sister decided to try them out, so I have only tried it once. The weird thing about this product is that you can only buy them in sachets of two, so they only last two applications, which is annoying for people that like the product. The cream smells amazing and there are little orange zest pieces in them. You have it on for ten minutes and I could feel it working straight away and it felt cooling and the sensation was similar to a plumping lipgloss, but it’s on your face. When my sister first put it on, she said it felt like it was stinging her face, but she left it a bit longer to see if the sensation continued. We waited the whole ten minutes and then rinsed it off. It took a while to rinse off because there was so much product in one sachet, but your mean’t to use it all, so we did. My sister (dry skin) said her face didn’t really feel any different, apart from she thinks it was slightly smoother to touch. The results for me (oily skin) were the same as my sisters really, but my forehead felt smoother and my skin appeared brighter. Overall the effects for us were not life changing, so I will not repurchase this type again, but there are other fruits with different properties I can have a look at, if I wanted to.

Soap & Glory The Breakfast Scrub – 300ml
I got this is in a gift set from the after Christmas sale at Boots. And I only bought the set because it came in a cute storage tin and it had an apron in it. You also got a Hand Food Hand Cream and this scrub. It smells really yummy and I use it on my legs so they feel really smooth. When you rinse it off, it looks like milk dripping off your legs. I really love this scrub and I bought two sets so I’ve just finished this one and I already have a backup. It is not sold at my Boots, so I will have to order it online, but I’ve already decided to try a different one in a sample size from Soap & Glory because it has Mist You Madly as it’s scent and that is by far my favourite S&P scent! But if that one doesn’t work as well, I will continue to use the Breakfast Scrub instead.

Soap & Glory Peaches & Clean Deep Cleansing Milk – 200ml
This is my favourite night cleanser/face wash at the moment and it smells lovely. I have already re-purchased and will continue to.

Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser – 100ml
I tried this out and it definitely moisturised my face, but I don’t really know if it helped prevent spots and blemishes, because I get them anyway, but not all the time. I am currently using a different moisturiser, but I may re-purchase this if my other one doesn’t work as well.

Dove Invisible Dry Deodorant – 250ml
I have been using this for a long time and it is my favourite and I tend to stock up when it is on offer.

Morrisons Daily Care Mouthwash in Cool Mint – 500ml
This was my second bottle and it works and is inexpensive.

Soap & Glory Mist You Madly Body Spray – 100ml
This is my favourite body spray/mist and my favourite scent from Soap & Glory. I have had this bottle since about September last year and I also used it as a room mist. I already have a back-up in the bigger size, from Christmas last year.

Serial Sampler #43

I decided to purchase a sample of this perfume online as I missed out on the free sample offer on Facebook (I had no idea it was being offered). Lady GaGa is the face of the advertising campaign for this fragrance and the television adverts feature a reworked snippet of her song ‘Sine From Above’.   It is Voce Viva by Valentino and it is a 1.2ml spritzer sample of the eau de parfum.   “ A couture and feminine bouquet of white flowers that gives Italian tradition a contemporary edge. ” Launched: 2020   Type: Floral Woody Musk / Feminine Notes Top: Mandarin Orange, Bergamot and Ginger. Middle: Orange Blossom and Gardenia. Base: Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Musk, Sandalwood and Oakmoss. This is a very soft floral scent and it smells lovely. It dries down very light and not overpowering, which is nice but I feel like it could be a little stronger as it smells quite weak on me. I can detect the Bergamot, Vanilla, Musk and Sandalwood notes. It is my type of floral scent even tho...

Escada Collector's Edition Gift Set

I’ve always been interested in trying Escada fragrances, but there are so many to choose from and I didn’t want to risk buying a full size bottle. I came across this little gift set whilst I was shopping online at Boots and clicked buy straight away! All four fragrances are in a tiny, but cute 4ml potion looking bottle. Here are the four scents you get to try:- TURQUOISE SUMMER This bottle is a turquoise/clear theme and contains the notes; pineapple, strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant, peach, violet, orange blossom, vanilla, sandalwood and musk. It smells really strong of orange blossom and kind of like a car air freshener. It does linger quite a while on the skin, but it is not really a strong scent. Overall I don’t like this scent. It doesn’t really smell of anything to me and what you can smell isn’t what I would call pleasant. I give this perfume 1/5 . BORN IN PARADISE This bottle’s theme is the same as Turquoise Summer and contains the notes; green apple, watermelo...
