Serial Sampler #18

I received this sample through the post and I am not sure who it is from. I assume maybe the brand sent it to me, but I am not sure. I have taken advantage of FREE perfume samples on Facebook before, so I wonder if it is a brand I have received samples from before. I definitely didn’t send of a request for this particular scent. It was the first time I had ever heard of or seen this scent when I opened the packet. I was also sent a sample of the masculine version of the scent in the same packet. Today’s sample is Valentino Donna Born in Roma by Valentino and it is a 1.2ml spritzer sample of the eau de parfum. “A floriental woody fragrance” It contains a mixture notes, such as; Blackcurrant, Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Jasmine Tea, Jasmine, Jasmine Sambac, Cashmeran, Guaiac Wood and Bourbon Vanilla.   It smells really fresh and feminine. I can really smell the bergamot, jasmine and the spice of the pink pepper with hints of the vanilla peeking through. It is definitely a

Jeffree Star Cosmetics X Shane Dawson Conspiracy Palette

I managed to get my hands on the new JSC x Shane Dawson palette on launch day! It took a few hours to complete the purchase online, but I didn’t give up. I have been following the journey of the creation of the whole collection on YouTube and everything is eye catching. I decided to only pick up the main palette this time; I usually buy at least one liquid lipstick from every JSC collection launch. Also available from the collection was the Mini Controversy Palette. I really love the shades Controversy and My Apology from the palette, but I knew I wouldn’t get much use out of the other shades, which is why I decided against purchasing it. There are also six velour liquid lipsticks (none of the shades appealed to me), pig mirrors, make-up bags/cases, clear version of the gloss and a lip balm. I believe the lip balm is only available in the USA. You can buy the products in bundles or buy the items separately. The packaging of the Conspiracy Palette slightly resembles the cas

LANCÔME Monsieur Big Mascara

I’ve had this mascara for a while now and I’ve only just got chance to give it a proper try, so I can let you know what I think of it. It is quite well known in the beauty word, so I was expecting to like this mascara. I also love that the name is part French (Monsieur means Mr/Mister in English) and it reminds me of the TV series; Sex and the City. The packaging is a large shiny plastic black cylindrical tube with a metallic hot pink stamp on the front containing the mascara name. The brand name is written underneath in a metallic hot pink font. You twist the brush cap and lift to pull about the wand/brush. On the end of the cap is a raised black rose image. The brush is big and soft. The bristles are made of soft fibres and it has a tube shape. The formula feels a little thick and kind of tacky. You get 10ml of product in the tube and the shade I have is 01 Big Is The New Black . You can purchase it for £22.00 from Lancome.co.uk and Lancome.com. This mascara is supposed to

Make-Up Storage ENVY! #3

Photo: IKEA.com I have done a couple of these posts before and I thought it was time I did another, seeing as though I am still not happy with my make-up collection set up/storage. I did re-decorate my bedroom just over a couple of years ago and I decided on getting one of the IKEA Alex 9 Drawer Units for my make-up. It seemed like the fashion to have one, but it is not at all practical in my opinion! The drawers only come out two thirds of the way, so you have wasted/unusable space at the back of them. I believe you can take out a couple of screws on the drawers and you should be able to fully open them, but this could also damage the strength of the unit, which is why I haven’t tried it. I struggled for a long time to find storage trays to fit in the drawers. I did purchase eight of the IKEA STÖDJA Cutlery Trays for this unit as they were recommended, but they actually do not fit in the drawers!! JUVIA'S PLACE The Tribe Palette

I just happened to be browsing on Twitter a few months ago and I saw a post from BeautyBay that said this palette was now available. I hadn’t seen it before, but I do already own a couple of Juvia’s Place Palettes, so I am aware of the quality. I bought it straight away and couldn’t wait to start experimenting with it. I have recently been incorporating more colours into my eye looks. The packaging is just like the other nine pan eyeshadow palettes that Juvia’s does. It is square shaped cardboard and a bright lime colour with a beautiful African design on the front. It has a magnetic closing and when the lid is lifted it reveals the nine eyeshadow pans on a shiny green gold background. The eyeshadow pans are very large and the shade names are written in white under each pan. It is available for £19.50 ($20.00) from Juviasplace.com and BeautyBay.com. You get nine 3.6g eyeshadows in matte (M) and shimmer (S) finishes. Maasai - bold lime green yellow (M) Oromo - b

Serial Sampler #17

I chose this sample as my free gift with purchase and I hadn’t heard of the brand before. It happens to be part of a series of four fragrances and they are all unisex/genderless. The designs of the full sized bottles are very interesting and artsy. Looking at the four, had I been able to pick which one to receive, I most likely would have chosen the one called 10am Flirt as it seems the fruitiest based of the four. The sample I have is Santal Sky by KIERIN NYC and it is a 1.5ml spritzer sample of the eau de parfum. “Intertwined like vines, we stroll through Central Park. Leaves release their woody fragrance. Under a canopy of trees, in the center of it all, we are a million miles from city life. Music from impromptu drum circles, the rhythm of runners’ footsteps, diverse languages fill my ears like poetry. This retreat into nature refreshes my soul. The sun smiling down upon us, I pull my loved one close. In synchronicity we breathe.” It contains a mixture notes, such

Swatch Perfect Swatch Stencils

I can’t quite remember how I came across this brand, but I think I just Google searched, ‘Swatch Stickers’ and hey presto! Swatch Perfect is a small company that designs and manufactures swatch stencils in the UK. It was set up by a beauty blogger, who struggled to find swatch stencils in the UK. You can purchase their sticker stencils exclusively from SwatchPerfect.co.uk. I decided to purchase some swatch stencils as my swatches will look neater and it will be easier for me to show off swatches from palettes that have like a million eyeshadow shades in them! Before, I would struggle to evenly space the swatches on my arm, now I no longer have to worry about that. You can purchase individual stencils or kits and there are plenty of styles to choose from; Stripes, Circles, Hearts, Stars, Logos etc. I wanted straight stripes so that my swatches look cleaner, also I thought this would be the easiest style for me to use. Overall I have purchased three Stripes Kits and an i

NABLA Coral Cutie Palette

I have always wanted to purchase a NABLA palette, but I was never sure of which one I wanted. I recently watched a NikkieTutorials video and she used this palette and I felt in love with it. It is smaller than the usual palettes that NABLA do. The packaging is quite small and compact. It is made out of cardboard and it has a little weight to it. It has a lovely pink and coral design on the front, it almost looks like clouds, but it is mean’t to represent sea coral. It has a magnetic closing which you lift to reveal the inside of the palette. On the underside of the lid, there is a small mirror and the other side has six decently sized square eyeshadow pans. The pans are bigger than the ones in the larger NABLA eyeshadow palettes. The inside of the palette is nude pink and the shade names are printed in brown font. It is available for £21.00 ($24.00) from NablaCosmetics.com, Morphe.com and BeautyBay.com. You get six 1.41g eyeshadows in Super Matte (SM), Metal Foil (MF), F

Perfume Power! - Justin Bieber 'Girlfriend'

I had wanted to purchase this perfume for years, ever since I had a sample of it. I held off buying it because I am not or never was a Justin Bieber fan and I thought it would be a little embarrassing to own something of his. Now I am a bit older, I don’t really care because I love smelling lovely and I remembered this scent being very lovely. The bottle itself it made out of purple glass and it is heart shaped and quite long and narrow. The bottle is encased inside a pink and purple springy plastic sort of case. I’m not really sure how to describe the casing. You are able to remove the bottle from the casing. The casing comes in two parts (cap and cup) which fit together by two weak magnets. I think the bottle design is supposed to represent a real heart. The purple bottle would be the heart and the casing would be your rib cage. It has a regular button press spritzer to dispense the scent. It is available in 30ml (£20), 50ml (£29.00) and 100ml (£40.00). I’m not too sure if yo
