HUDA BEAUTY The New Nude Palette

I currently own all four of the big HUDA BEAUTY palettes, and I fell for the colour story of this one as soon as I saw it. The designs for the bigger palettes always look stunning!

THE PACKAGING

The packaging is quite simple and made of nude pink cardboard, but it has Huda’s face on the front. Huda’s eyes are closed and it looks like she is wearing a fascinator, which is covering part of her face. The palette has a magnetic closing and you just lift it up to reveal the mirror and square eyeshadow pans.

MY THOUGHTS

·        Primer/Base - The eyeshadows are pigmented enough without a primer or base, but I would always layer one down. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Too Faced Glitter Glue.

·        Pigmentation - The pigmentation is ok, but building is required with some of the matte shades. The metallics are ok and the glitters are not bad when applied over glitter glue. I wouldn’t say the pigmentation is insane, like it is advertised to be!

·        Application (wet/dry) - The eyeshadows can be applied wet or dry. I always use mattes dry, unless I am applying them to my lower lash line or using them as eyeliner. The cream/metallics/glitters are best applied with your finger, wet or dry.

·        Blending - The mattes blend ok, but a lot of the colours look the same when blended out.

·        Kick-Back - Obviously, there is always going to be kick-back in your eyeshadow pans as you are disturbing powders. The kick-back was not a concern or issue for me in this particular palette.

·        Fallout - I didn’t notice any fallout with the cream, matte or metalli shades, but you will get slight fallout with the two glitters. A very tacky glitter glue is a necessity!

I was so excited to try out this palette, but I was left slightly disappointed by it. The shades are very light and mauvy toned and all look the same when blended out. The pigmentation is just above average, but blending was effortless. I’m not sure if the shades really flatter any skin tone as Lace and Secret were too light for me and barely showed up. You do have to build up the lighter matte shades quite a bit too. I really don’t get the cream base shade. It is very thin and sheer, but it can work as a base but I wouldn’t trust it without primer anyway. The metallic sort of shades were just not metallic enough. They look kind of magical and molten in the pans, but this definitely does not transfer to the eyes. I’m not overly keen on pressed glitters and I have tried better and more inexpensive pressed glitters before. I really dislike when brands overly mix up formulas in one palette. My favourite shade is Daydream. Overall, this palette is great for a natural look, but it just isn’t my vibe!

BY BEAUTY BAY Fiery 16 Colour Palette

This is the third BY BEAUTY BAY make-up product I’ve tried and I did see it on the website when it first launched, but never picked it up. It was always sold out anyway so I couldn’t get it and the packaging has just been re-vamped for all of their palettes and all of the products were re-stocked. I decided to pick this one up because of the size, it’s not too small and it’s not too big. The nine shade version of this palette is all matte, and I really like shimmers/metallic and the massive forty-two shade version is too big (too many shades and too big to store in my drawers). I thought the sixteen shade palette would be the perfect medium. My palette actually arrived faulty; one of the eyeshadows is missing (Burnt Sienna). In the spot were Burnt Sienna should be there is actually a duplicate of another shade in the palette (Sunstone). Basically, I have two Sunstone eyeshadows and I should only have one. I don’t have the shade Burnt Sienna when I should have one of them (abov...

Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Volume II Palette

This palette has been out for a while now and I did purchase it a while ago, but I have only just decided to really play with it. Morphe palettes in general put me off because of the size of them, no shade names, boring packaging and too many shades in some palettes. The colour story of this palette in particular is really attractive to me. I didn’t buy Volume I as I didn’t want to jump on the band wagon, the size of the packaging and the colour story is just boring to me. I did pick up the Vault Collection (four palettes) and what a massive disappointment it was too (now decluttered)!! I was initially put off this palette due to my past experiences, but the colour story though! Also, a good thing about the Morphe website is that you can always get 10% off your order with an affiliate code.   THE PACKAGING The packaging is a quite large thin rectangular shape. It is made out of glossy white cardboard and it has the branding and information printed in metallic silver font on the fro...

My Favourite TV Series

I have already shared with you some current favourite songs and my favourite films. I thought it was now time to mention my favourite TV series. Here are my top ten favourite TV series:-   Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003) This series is about a teenager who becomes the next vampire slayer. Only one slayer is born into every generation and one has to die for another to be activated. It is a kind of coming of age story and I love strong female characters. I also just loved the fight scenes. I was only four when this series first came out, so I did miss a few seasons at first. About five years ago, I did re-watch all seven seasons. I was sad it ended, but there are only so many monsters you can introduce and slay before it gets monotonous! It did watch the spin-off show Angel, but it didn’t have the same magic and feel to it for me.   Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999-) I am quite partial to a crime drama and it all started with CSI: Miami. I watched all of the Amer...
