Melt Cosmetics Smoke Sessions Palette

I have had this palette a little while now and I still remember how badly I wanted this palette before it was available in the UK. As soon as it was announced that BeautyBay.com were going to stock Melt Cosmetics, I eagerly waited for this palette. I missed the first batch that was launched, but managed to get one from the second round. My first one arrived broken (see photo below) and I was sent a replacement, which arrived in great condition. The eyeshadow formula is quite fragile, so whenever I order a Melt Cosmetics Palette I always worry about them arriving broken. Ironically, the broken eyeshadow looked like crushed up Cannabis!
THE PACKAGING
The packaging is quite a long rectangular shape and it is made out of cardboard. It has a metallic green background with silver Cannabis plants printed across it. The writing is in a silver font. It has a magnetic closing and once lifted; it reveals the eight rounded rectangular eyeshadow pans on a matte black background with the shade names written in silver. It also has a small mirror on the underside of the lid.

MY THOUGHTS
·        Primer/Base - The eyeshadows are pigmented enough without a primer or base, but I would always lay one down. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Too Faced Glitter Glue.
·        Pigmentation - The pigmentation is amazing, but the mattes can look a little patchy.
·        Application (wet/dry) - The eyeshadows can be applied wet or dry. I always use mattes dry, unless I am applying them to my lower lash line or using them as eyeliner. I sometimes apply metallics/shimmers wet, but it depends on the formula and whether they contain glitters. Wet application can max up the pigmentation and help prevent fallout.
·        Blending - The matte shades blend out pretty well, they kind of come across a little patchy but I think it is just the shades; it is mean’t to look grungy.
·        Kick-Back - Obviously, there is always going to be kick-back in your eyeshadow pans as you are disturbing powders. The kick-back was not a concern or issue for me in this particular palette.
·        Fallout - There is no fallout from the matte shades, but there is mega fallout from the metallic shades. A highly adhesive glitter glue is needed!

I like that the packaging is simple and slim line. I’m not overly keen on the theme, but I do like the colour story even if it isn’t my typical look. The ratio of finishes isn’t great, but with a grungy look you can get away with using one matte on your eyes as a transition and crease shade. You can put a bit on and blend it far out like a transition shade and then apply a more concentrated amount to darken your crease. I found that Sour Diesel applied the best out of the two matte shades. The metallic shades are brilliant and so richly pigmented. My favourite shades overall are Sweet Tooth and Grand Daddy. The only issues are that you cannot really get a vast variety of looks out of the palette with there only being two mattes. Each of the six metallic shades do look very different, but I tend to use two to three metallics on my eye lids when I do a look. Also, a couple of the metallic shades were quite chunky in texture; Black Widow (also the least pigmented metallic of the palette) and Blue Dream. I wold also recommend that you do your base make-up after your eyes due to the fallout from the metallic shades. Overall, I did enjoy using this palette and would recommend it as an accent palette as you would need more matte shades to create a variety of looks. I do kind of regret buying this palette as it isn’t one I really reach for, but the Sweet Tooth shade is just so stunning! I do also own the Melt Cosmetics Gemini Palette and I will post about it soon, I previously owned the Twenty Seven Palette but I decluttered it. I have liked all three palettes I have tried from Melt Cosmetics, so I would purchase another one should a colour story appeal to me.

Boots Fragrance Sampler Gift Set for Her 2015

I decided to treat myself to this little fragrance set. As you know, I am a perfume addict and I’m quite addicted to collecting perfume samples too! It’s this year’s Boots Fragrance Sampler set for Her. I saw last year’s advertised but I always thought it was a little expensive for what you get. The set basically contains eight samples of Boots best-selling female fragrances by other brands. The set comes in a small, thin cardboard box and each sample is set inside a plastic insert. You also get a small fragrance guide and the voucher, which is what you’ll need to get your full size bottle of your favourite sample. The eight samples in this year’s set are:- HUGO BOSS - Boss Ma Vie This is a 2ml sample vile in pipette form and can be exchanged for a 30ml bottle of the eau de parfum. “Inspired by the independent spirit of a woman, exuding a glow of femininity and confidence. Katie Price 'Stunning' Perfume VS JoJo Siwa 'Be You' Perfume - Are they the same?

I was browsing on AllBeauty.com and looking at celebrity fragrances and I saw that one was listed for JoJo Siwa. I had heard of JoJo before, but I don’t really know anything about her. I clicked on it out of interest and when I first saw the image of the perfume, I thought maybe the wrong photograph had been uploaded until I clicked on it and saw the description of the perfume. When I first saw the photograph, before I clicked on it to read the description, I instantly thought, that’s Stunning by Katie Price! I looked into it a bit more and compared it to Stunning. The JoJo Siwa “version” is called Be You. Glossybox #19 - December 2015

I have been really looking forward to this box as I knew it would be rose gold themed. All the products were carefully selected by the Beauty Blogger ReallyRee, for this special looking limited edition Christmas box.  Here is what I received:- être belle Golden Skin Caviar Eye Roll On | 10ml - £30.66 | This product is a bit odd and really doesn’t appeal to me at all! So Susan Statement Skin Highlighter Pencil in Starlight | 1.8g - £15.00 | This is a very strange colour and the cream shape is odd too. I am not interested in this product one bit. I prefer light pink highlighters and this is a yellow gold shade, not flattering at all for my skin tone! COLLECTION Long Lasting Nail Effects in Touch of Glamour (31) | 8ml - £2.99 | This nail polish looks really pretty and it is definitely my kind of shade (rose gold). I am looking forwarded to trying it on my nails. I think it would look beautiful on it’s own. Hylamide Pore Delete | 10ml - £18.00...
