I purchased this palette as I most recently
picked up the Charlotte Tilbury Bejewelled Eyes To Hypnotise Instant Eye
Palette and fell in love with it. I had also previously owned the Charlotte
Tilbury Stars-In-Your-Eyes Palette and the quality was the same as the
Bejewelled version, so I was expecting and hoping this Starry version would be
the same.
THE PACKAGING
The packaging is made of metallic royal
blue plastic and it has a long, thin and rectangular shape. It has a glittery silver
starburst design across the front. I believe all of these particular palettes
have the same starburst design, but the colour varies from palette to palette.
It has a magnetic closing, which you lift up to reveal the rectangular
eyeshadow pans arranged in threes across a mirrored gold base. The group names
are printed in dark brown font under each group of three. The shades don’t
really have names, but there is a plastic insert included which labels the
eyeshadows as 1 Prime, 2 Enhance or 3 Smoke. There is also a mirror on the
underside of the lid.

MY THOUGHTS
·
Primer/Base - The eyeshadows are pigmented enough without a primer or base, but I
would always lay one down. I used Too
Faced Shadow Insurance and Too Faced
Glitter Glue.
·
Pigmentation - The pigmentation is perfect,
but three shades are slightly disappointing!
·
Application (wet/dry) - The eyeshadows can
be applied wet or dry. I always use mattes dry, unless I am applying them to my
lower lash line or using them as eyeliner. I sometimes apply metallics/shimmers
wet, but it depends on the formula and whether they contain glitters. Wet
application can max up the pigmentation and help prevent fallout.
·
Blending - They blend out great on their own, but
they don’t quite blend together well as they are opposing shades.
·
Kick-Back - Obviously, there is always going to be
kick-back in your eyeshadow pans as you are disturbing powders. The kick-back
was not a concern or issue for me in this particular palette.
·
Fallout - I only noticed slight glitter fallout from the shades; Seduce Glow - 1 Prime and Seduce Glow - 2 Enhance.
This palette is absolutely stunning! I love the
compact, slim and royal blue shiny packaging. The colour story is neutral with
a sort of smoky vibe. The mattes are soft and blendable and the metallics are
beautiful. The shimmery shades really catch the light. I'm
not really mad at there only being three matte shades, but the three shades
don’t really go together. You haven’t really got a deepening shade to go with a
transition shade, but the shades do go with the shimmers and you can still get
a gorgeous glowy and light reflecting look. My favourite shades are;
Love Glow - 2 Enhance and Dream Glow - 3 Smoke. I am disappointed
in the last three shades, which are from the Seduce Glow section. I thought Seduce
Glow - 1 Prime and Seduce Glow - 2
Enhance would be molten metallics like the other metallic shades, but they
are more glittery toppers. They do not have much of a base pigment and they are
best applied wet if you really want them to cover your eyes. I do love how glittery
they look though. I was just really looking forward to a molten metallic slate
blue shade and that’s sadly not what I got! Seduce Glow - 3 Smoke is kind of a dry shade, I’m guessing it’s
because it is dark. It doesn’t come across as blue as it looks in the pan
either when you apply it to your eye. There are small sparkles in the shade,
but you can’t see them on your eye. Also, I notice that in the three larger
instant eye palettes I’ve tried so far, the first two groups of shades tend to
be warm neutrals. This isn’t a massive issue for me as I love warm neutrals,
but it does mean you are kind of getting repeat shades if you buy all of the
palettes in this line. Lastly, I dislike the fact that these palettes do not
have names for the eyeshadow shades. The Bejewelled palette has the same naming
structure of this palette, so the shades are not really individualised.
Overall, this palette is pretty and I do love the pops of green. I would
definitely recommend that you pick up Bejewelled over this one (I love it so
much). I would say Starry is my least favourite out of the three larger instant
eye palettes I’ve tried from Charlotte Tilbury. I will still enjoy creating
hypnotic eye looks with it though! FYI - I still really regret decluttering my Stars-In-Your-Eyes
Palette!
