Empties #6 - March 2013

Hello again, I haven’t really used up anything interesting this month and I have been quite lazy with posts, but I will hopefully have quite a few reviews up soon and then maybe I can start using up some make-up and then I can justify buying more. Let’s get into what I managed to use up.

Possibility Raspberry Pavlova Body Spray – 90ml
I received this as a gift, as part of a gift set. As you can tell it is a body spray scented like Raspberry Pavlova and I do not know what Raspberry Pavlova actually smells like, but the spray does smell of raspberry which is ok, but it also smells really sweet and buttery like toffee, which I do not like. It definitely doesn’t smell as nice as the matching shower gel. And it doesn’t last very long on the skin and I cannot find anywhere online that sells it, which means even if I liked it and wanted to re-purchase it, I wouldn’t be able to!

Home Bargains DentalCare Total Care Coolmint Mouthwash – 500ml
I bought this just to try it out and all I can really say is that it is a cheap and basic cool mint mouthwash. It is nothing special; it does what you expect a mouthwash to do. I will not be re-purchasing it for a while because at the start of the month I bought a different one to try that I already had in travel size, so look out for that in next month’s empties.

Possibility Raspberry Pavlova Shower Gel – 150mll
This smelled really nice and bubbly and nothing like the body spray. It is very gloopy and you need to use quite a lot so that it lathers on your sponge enough, so that you can wash your whole body with it. Also the scent only lasts until you wash it off, like most shower gels but I that is why I love my Soap & Glory shower gels. I will not be re-purchasing this because I don’t really rate it, I love Soap & Glory and even if I did like this shower gel, there is no way for me to purchase it.

TRESemmé Extra Hold Salon Finish Hairspray – 100ml
I decided to buy this because I ran out of hairspray and I went to Morrisons to find the cheapest and smallest bottle to tide me over until I decided which one to try next. I didn’t fancy getting a cheap Morrisons one and I happened to come across this one, so I thought I would give it ago and I love it! It does exactly what it says on the can; apart from it doesn’t last twenty-four hours on my hair. I have already re-purchased it in the big 500ml size for £2.99 from Home Bargains.

Nivea Invisible For Black & White 48h Clear Anti-Perspirant Deodorant – 150ml & 250ml
I am still using this deodorant as it is my current favourite to use.

BAYLIS & HARDING Sweet Mandarin & Grapefruit Balancing Body Wash – 100ml
When I first got this (as a gift) I thought it would smell amazing, but the scent is actually very subtle, too subtle for my taste. It is just a basic body wash and I didn’t notice anything special about it. It also comes out in dollops onto your sponge, which is very strange. Overall I wouldn’t purchase it myself.

Soap & Glory No Clogs Allowed Face Mask – 100ml
I used this product twice a week and although it sounds amazing, it just didn’t work for me. Other than the fact that it didn’t work for my skin, I didn’t like the way it dried in my hair when I accidently rubbed it too close to my hair line. It also took quite a while to take off, even with the free sponge you get with the product for a “squeaky clean”. I wouldn’t buy this again because it didn’t work for me. I have already purchased two new face products from Soap & Glory to fill the gap that this product previously filled.

Wilko Skin Therapy Cotton Wool Pads – 100 Pads
I used these mostly for taking off my nail polish. I also used these to take swatches off my arm with a little make-up remover. I buy these wherever is most convenient at the time of needing them.

Morrisons So Clear Deep Cleansing Facial Wipes – 25 Wipes
I bought these to go with the matching cleanser and moisturiser. I did like using these wipes and I used one wipe for my face just before I went to bed to make sure every last trace of make-up or dirt was gone, that may have been left behind after washing my face in the shower. They definitely picked up a bit of dirt but I don’t think they really did anything special to my pores. I also wished these wipes were moister so I could really get the clean feeling. I will not be purchasing these anytime soon because I think my face wash cleanser and morning cleanser is enough for me at the moment, but I may try these again if I feel the need to.

Head & Shoulders Anti-Dandruff Shampoo in Citrus Fresh – 400ml
This was my second bottle of this shampoo and I just buy it because the properties that it supposedly has are associated with my hair type, but I don’t actually notice a difference when I use it. I definitely wouldn’t say it is anti-dandruff and my hair is still as oily as ever and it doesn’t make your hair smell citrusy. It hasn’t made my hair worse, which is why I still buy it because another shampoo hasn’t yet caught my eye, but I have noticed my hair has been quite dry in the mornings after I have washed it. Head & Shoulders have recently released this shampoo again, but with a built in conditioner. I have purchased the newer version in the hope that it helps with the dryness, plus I am quite naughty because I haven’t used conditioner in years, apart from when I dye my hair because you get a sachet of it to help keep the colour.

Soap & Glory Wash Your Hands Of It Hand Wash – 250ml
I got this on Boxing Day and I really enjoyed using it, but it is a bit expensive for a hand wash if you ask me. I love that it comes in a pump and it sits in the duo cradle Soap & Glory bring out at Christmas. If I lived on my own I probably would buy this for my bathroom so it can stay in the cradle, but because I live at home and share the bathroom with three other people, it is easier and cheaper to use the hand wash that is already in the bathroom.

Next month I should have more interesting posts for you. Please leave your suggestions below, as it would really help me out.

Glamour Magazine - July 2013

Yesterday I picked up the new edition of Glamour Magazine, well three copies of them actually! It is the July 2013 edition and you get a choice of five free MODEL CO products and four different magazine covers ( Rebel Wilson , Zooey Deschanel , Myleene Klass & Daniel Radcliffe ). I have never heard of the MODEL CO brand before, but judging by their website, they are marketed as high end. I’m not sure what size the items in the magazines are, but I have listed the full sizes and prices below. FIBRE LASHXTEND Mascara - £28 SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss in Strip Tease - £12 SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss in Showgirl Red - £12 COLOURBOX Eye Pencil in Black 01 - £14 LIP ENHANCER Illusion Lip Liner - £16 I decided to pick up two copies because this month’s edition is £1 instead of £2. I got the FIBRE LASHXTEND Mascara and COLOURBOX Eye Pencil in Black 01 .  When I got home and I opened them, I soon realised the eyeliner box was empty! L All the plastic packaging was inta...

Make-Up Storage ENVY!

Today I am going to talk about at topic I love and hate. I really love seeing how people organise their make-up, but I hate I can’t do what I want with mine! Last year I bought the ‘dresser of my dreams’ as it was at the time and now I kind of regret it. I bought it because I wanted more storage space, but I mostly wanted to store make-up in it. It cost me about £80 from Argos and it is a really nice dresser, but now I wish I had something smaller because I downsized my make-up collection! Don’t get me wrong, all four drawers have other stuff in them as well as make-up but it just doesn’t satisfy me. My problem is not really with the dresser although I would love one of the storage units I am going to mention, it is actually the fact that I can’t find baskets to fit nicely in the drawers I am using for make-up. At the moment the boxes are too big or too small, funny shaped, miss matched and not what I want. I would be perfectly happy with the dresser until I get my own place...

Review: Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil

This was the second eyebrow pencil I had ever tried because I wanted something that was inexpensive and maybe had an applicator with it. The product just looks like an eyeliner pencil, but on the side of the cap there is a grooming brush. The cap colour reflects the actual product colour. To apply it, you take off the cap and put it on the end of the pencil. You then just fill in your eyebrows like you would normally, just add more pressure to the pencil if you want a darker look. You can then turn the pencil upside down and use the brush. The formula is really soft and you can tell it has some wax built in to it. You get 1.4g of product and the shade I have is 002 Hazel , which is a light honey brown shade. This brow pencil is supposed to be brilliant for filling the gaps in your brows and great for lengthening your arc for a natural look. The colour should be long wearing and smudge-proof and the brush applicator should make it easy for you to groom and shape. I ...
