Perfume Power! - Diesel 'Loverdose'

Photo: TheFragranceCounter.co.uk
I received this perfume as a Christmas present and it was part of a gift set. This is the eau de parfum version of the fragrance.

The bottle is very gorgeous indeed! The bottle is made of glass and it is heart shaped with amethyst colouring. If you look closely at the bottle you can see that the spray also acts as a sort of dagger, ‘a dagger to the heart’. Also the edges of the heart are not straight, which means the bottle can be stood three different ways, only two of the ways work for me because when it is stood on the longest edge it falls over, but once I've used more of the perfume up that might solve the problem!
The fragrance notes are:-

Top Notes: Mandarin & Star Anise
Middle Notes: Jasmine, Gardenia & Liquorice
Base Notes: Amber, Vanilla & Wood

This perfume is described as being oriental with a liquorice heart. It is definitely more of a night time scent because it is quite strong and sexy smelling and lasts a long time on the skin. The liquorice is definitely the strongest note and sometimes I think it is too strong because I don’t like liquorice, but I do really like this scent. It reminds me of a masculine type scent but I think the star anise and the mix of floral notes make it very feminine and sort of fruity smelling.

I do not wear this perfume often, partly because I identify it as being a night time/clubbing scent and I would not get much use out of that sort of scent, but I do really like wearing it and I LOVE the bottle. Heart shaped and purple, who wouldn’t love that? J

My Eye Primers: The Verdict!

It has taken me a long time to put this altogether, but I have finally done it! I decided I wanted to share my thoughts on eye primers I had tried and it turned out that I had ten, so I thought I would test them and find out which one worked best for me. I have split them into two categories (High End/Low End) and I aim to rank them from #1 to #10 on which is the longest wearing. Let’s look at the primers I will be testing. HIGH END URBAN DECAY PRIMER POTION PRICE: £17.50 SIZE: 10ml SHADES: Original, Anti-ageing, Freebase, Eden, Fix, Minor Sin, Sin and Caffeine APPLICATION: Squeeze tube without a nozzle, but also has a sponge stick applicator PROMISES: Non-creasing, gives you vibrant eyeshadows WHERE TO BUY: UrbanDecay.co.uk (UK) & Sephora (USA) I like to think that this primer is my favourite as I love the packaging (purple is my favourite colour). It is potion bottle inspired and it is the first primer I remember ever seeing and wanting. The packa...

Perfume Power! - Next 'Paradise'

I first smelt this perfume after receiving it in a mini gift set about ten years ago and I have loved it ever since. This 100ml size is my first bottle of it though, other than the tester/sample size. The bottle is quite tall and it is a sort of clutch bag shape if you turn it on its side. The bottle is a simple design and you can easily see how much perfume you have. On mine the spray pump sometimes gets stuck in the band around the neck of the bottle, but the problem is easily solved. I can’t find a specific note list anywhere for this perfume, but on Next’s site it is described as, "a light fruity fragrance with white florals and green notes". To me it smells really fruity and fresh. It is also multifunctional because it is quite strong and sexy, so perfect for a night out, but it is also not too overpowering and smells fresh and fruity enough for day time wear. It is actually an eau de toilette, which means that it is less concentrated, but I find that it is st...

Oden's Eye Solmåne Eyeshadow Palette

I first heard of this indie brand through watching Angelika Oles’ beauty channel on YouTube. Oden’s Eye is a Swedish indie brand and they make Norse mythology themed products. This is one of two eyeshadow palettes I decided to purchase; I also picked up the two matching highlighter palettes.   THE PACKAGING The packaging is small and rectangular in shape. It is made out of cardboard and it has a sort of textured covering (like on pogs). The design and imagery is so unique to the brand. Solmåne means the sun and moon in Swedish. Sol represents the Sun Goddess and Måne represents the Moon God. Both Gods are represented on the packaging. There is a colour split of warm and cool toned shades (lavender, pink, orange & yellow) along with moon, star and Norse symbols. The wheel around the Gods is metallic gold, so it really reflects the light when you move the palette around. The eyeshadow shade names are printed on the back of the palette. The palette has a magnetic closing/opening, ...
