e.l.f Brightening Eyeshadow Quads

I made a massive e.l.f order a long time ago and if you spent a certain amount of money you got ten e.l.f Essential Brightening Eye Colour Quads for free!
The packaging is a really small, plastic compact with a small mirror and double ended sponge applicator. The eyeshadows are in triangular pans and arranged to form two squares and one big rectangle. They come in a variety of different shades and all weigh 2.5g each.

The ten shades I have are:-
Hazy Hazel
Shade 1 - dark, taupe brown (matte)
Shade 2 - light peach (shimmer)
Shade 3 - mid tone purple (glitter)
Shade 4 - light, frosty soft brown (glitter)

The taupe brown shade has average pigmentation. The peach shade is a bit chalky and has average pigmentation. The purple shade is slightly chalky with average pigmentation. The soft brown shade also has average pigmentation.
Punk Funk
Shade 1 - light, nearly white cream shade (shimmer)
Shade 2 - bright, standard electric blue (glitter)
Shade 3 - bright, indigo violet (glitter)
Shade 4 - bright, fuchsia pink (glitter)

The cream shade is very powdery and has sheer pigmentation. The blue shade has good pigmentation. The purple shade also has good pigmentation. The pink shade is the glitteriest shade from this quad and has good pigmentation.
Glam
Shade 1 - light, powder pink (matte)
Shade 2 - dusty charcoal black (glitter)
Shade 3 - bright, hot pink (glitter)
Shade 4 - light, puce pink (glitter)

The powder pink shade is quite powdery, and has sheer pigmentation. The black shade has good pigmentation. The hot pink shade has good pigmentation. The puce pink shade is quite chalky and also has average pigmentation.
Nymph Dreams
Shade 1 - light, pale yellow gold (glitter)
Shade 2 - warm, dusty brown (shimmer)
Shade 3 - bright, green teal (shimmer)
Shade 4 - light, slightly silver taupe (shimmer)

The gold shade is good pigmentation and slightly chalky. The dusty brown has ok pigmentation and is also slightly chalky. The teal shade is quite bright and the most pigmented from this palette. The taupe shade has quite good pigmentation and has a slightly silver sheen.
Day 2 Night
Shade 1 - light, warm cream beige (shimmer)
Shade 2 - deep, purple mahogany brown (shimmer)
Shade 3 - deep, charcoal black (matte)
Shade 4 - light, slightly purple taupe (glitter)

The beige shade is quite pigmented. The purple mahogany shade has ok pigmentation and is quite chalky and sheer. The black also has ok pigmentation and is too sheer. The purple taupe has great pigmentation and looks smouldering.
Ivy
Shade 1 - light, pearly green (shimmer)
Shade 2 - deep smokey, forest/khaki green (matte)
Shade 3 - bronzy, olive green (shimmer)
Shade 4 - stony, grey taupe (shimmer)

The pearly green shade is really sheer and a little chalky and is the least pigmented of the four shades. The smokey forest green shade is relatively pigmented and a nice deep shade. The olive green shade is also quite pigmented and kind of yellow toned. The grey taupe shade is really soft, neutral and has good pigmentation.
Teal Dream
Shade 1 - light, off white (shimmer)
Shade 2 - light, pale grey (shimmer)
Shade 3 - bright, teal blue (shimmer)
Shade 4 - bright, turquoise green (shimmer)

The off white shade is quite chalky and has light pigmentation. The pale grey also has light pigmentation. The teal blue, although bright, it is quite sheer and the same with the turquoise green, apart from it is slightly more opaque than the teal.
Noveau Neutrals
Shade 1 - light, icy blue (glitter)
Shade 2 - smoky, grey taupe (shimmer)
Shade 3 - light, peach (glitter)
Shade 4 - light, warm brown (glitter)

The icy blue has ok pigmentation and is a little chalky. The grey taupe has the best pigmentation and the peach is really light and barely noticeable! The brown is really light and has ok pigmentation.
Blue Moon
Shade 1 - light, cream (shimmer)
Shade 2 - deep, brown with purple (shimmer)
Shade 3 - light, icy grey blue (shimmer)
Shade 4 - dark, navy blue (shimmer)

The cream has good pigmentation, although a little chalky, The brown has good pigmentation and has purple undertones. The icy grey blue is very pigmented and not chalky. The navy blue is quite sheer in pigmentation.
Rocker
Shade 1 - light, white (glitter)
Shade 2 - light, beige (shimmer)
Shade 3 - deep, violet purple (shimmer)
Shade 4 - deep, charcoal black (glitter)

The white shade has rubbish pigmentation and is very chalky! The beige shade has very sheer pigmentation. The violet purple is very sheer and nowhere near as bright as it looks. The black is not overly pigmented, but it is a deep colour and can be built up.

These eyeshadows are mean’t to be smooth, long lasting and beautiful looking. They are also mean’t to brighten yours eyes and make you look wide awake.

Firstly, I do not like the packaging. There is not much room for you to get your brush in there and it looks tacky. I much prefer the square panned eyeshadow quads e.l.f released of these in previous gift sets. Also the mirror is kind of pointless because it is very small! I don’t mind the sponge applicators though because they help pack on colour. The shadows are kind of smooth, but a lot of them lack decent pigmentation and even if you applied eye primer you would still struggle with the building up of some shades! They will last and not crease, but the colours fade over time and definitely don’t stay beautiful looking! With some of the shades you will get fallout and I don’t really notice if they make my eyes look brighter or more wide awake.

Overall they are ok if you want to play with some colour because the pigmentation is not full-on. Although there are some faults, they are not bad quality for how much they cost and there are a lot of shades to choose from. Not all e.l.f eyeshadows are the same because the element eyeshadows are amazing and I love them! I will not be purchasing any of the brightening quads myself! They are worth the price tag, but if you want quality, I suggest you steer clear of these at all costs!

Review: Rimmel Wake Me Up

Wake Me Up Foundation I bought this after seeing the advertisement for it on Rimmel’s Facebook, and I thought the description sounded perfect for me. The packaging is made of glass and it has a curved shape, with the Rimmel logo and product name printed in the centre on a bit of plastic tape. The cap is a slanted block shape made of plastic and it is a bright orange colour with glitter sparkle. This product has an orange plastic pump, which dispenses the product. All the relevant information is printed on the back, like most products. It is also packaged in a plastic wrapper, with a security tag. This product is marketed as a foundation that “instantly reawakens skin, with a healthy, radiant glow”. It is also mean’t to be light weight and give a poreless and flawless complexion. It also contains SPF15 for sun protection and illuminating pearls, which is mean’t to give your face a natural glow. It is also mean’t to “bounce your skin back to life” and banish the signs of fat...

e.l.f Earth & Ocean Palette

I haven’t purchased anything from e.l.f in the longest time. I happened upon a post of this palette on Instagram and the complimentary comments really peaked my interest in trying it for myself. Palettes I have tried from e.l.f. in the past haven’t been the greatest of quality; I kind of associate the brand as being for children, beginners or natural beauty wearers. I was also interested in the Retro Paradise Palette , but I thought I would get more use out of this one at the moment.   THE PACKAGING The packaging is quite simple with a clear/black outlined plastic rectangular shape. The fronting is transparent so that you can see the eyeshadows from the outside of the palette. It has a clip closing, which you push apart to reveal the inside. The square eyeshadow pans are spread out across a black base and the shade names are printed in grey font under each pan. THE EYESHADOWS & FORMULA You get eighteen 0.94g eyeshadows in Matte (M), Metallic (ME), Glitter (G), Satin (S) and Shi...
