Serial Sampler #24

I recently bought some skincare items from FeelUnique.com and I spent enough that I got to choose a free sample. I chose the perfume sample option of course. I used to own a bottle of the original version of this scent and was interested to find out whether this spin-off version smelled much different, as sometimes spin-offs smell nothing like the original scents they derive from.

It is Mon Paris Couture by Yves Saint Laurent and it is a 1.2ml spritzer sample of the eau de parfum.

“A sparkling white chypre for a dazzling signature. The iconic and vertiginous Datura flower lights up with the freshness of rosebud accord and the sparkle of grapefruit essence for a free-spirited and radically couture attitude. ”
It contains a mixture of notes such as; Bergamot, Raspberry, Litchi, Grapefruit, Mandarin Orange, Datura, Peony, Rose, Orange Blossom, Patchouli, White Musk, Ambroxan and Cashmeran.

I do like the smell of this scent. It does smell different to the original, but you can tell it is a spin-off. I would say it is more floral than the original. It smells light, fresh, delicate, flowery and sparkly. I can detect the bergamot, peony, patchouli and white musk notes the most. I think I still prefer the original, but this is a nice addition to the Mon Paris family. It also reminds me of Bright Crystal by Versace.

You can buy it in 30ml (£56/$74), 50ml (£78/$97) and 90ml (£100/$124) and it is available at places such as; Boots, YSLBeauty.co.uk, YSLBeautyUS.com and Sephora.

Oden's Eye Norn’s Mesmerizer Highlighters

When I saw that Oden’s Eye posted on their Instagram page about their new Norn’s Series Collection, I knew I would be making my second purchase of their products. The collection as a whole includes four eyeshadow palettes and three highlighters. The palettes all looked beautiful, but I knew I wouldn’t get much use out of them and I didn’t just want to buy them to swatch and post about and then not use again. I did want to buy all three highlighters, but I settled on the two that I would get most use out of. The one I didn’t choose is a stunning blue and silver shade and I just knew I wouldn’t wear it as much as the other two. I already own a few other blue highlighters and I hardly ever wear them. I believe only the three highlighters are limited edition and the eyeshadow palettes are all permanent. ABOUT THE PRODUCT In Norse mythology, three sisters (Norn’s) weave and guard the web of fate. They also attend the spring of life that supports the World Tree. The highlighters reflect the ...

ZOEVA Rose Golden Palette

I saw this palette a while ago on a beauty blog and instantly knew I had to have it. It’s not long launched here in the UK, but it’s already a cult favourite! I just adore the packaging, everything about it! It’s made out of cardboard, but it feels sturdy and durable and it is a gorgeous kind of coffee/red velvet chocolate colour. It has a beautiful rose gold design on the front, with swirls and then a centered key. It has a magnetic closing, which is quite strong because if you hold it from the top when closed and give it a shake, the two parts don’t separate (palette doesn’t open). It has a light feel in general and inside it’s all one beautiful colour and the eyeshadows are well spaced. Around each pan is a rose gold diamond border and underneath in small rose gold letters are the shade names. On the back of the palette is the usual ingredients and other information blurbs. You get ten full size eyeshadows (0.5oz) with matte, metallic or satin finishes and each has a cute...

My Eye Primers: The Verdict!

It has taken me a long time to put this altogether, but I have finally done it! I decided I wanted to share my thoughts on eye primers I had tried and it turned out that I had ten, so I thought I would test them and find out which one worked best for me. I have split them into two categories (High End/Low End) and I aim to rank them from #1 to #10 on which is the longest wearing. Let’s look at the primers I will be testing. HIGH END URBAN DECAY PRIMER POTION PRICE: £17.50 SIZE: 10ml SHADES: Original, Anti-ageing, Freebase, Eden, Fix, Minor Sin, Sin and Caffeine APPLICATION: Squeeze tube without a nozzle, but also has a sponge stick applicator PROMISES: Non-creasing, gives you vibrant eyeshadows WHERE TO BUY: UrbanDecay.co.uk (UK) & Sephora (USA) I like to think that this primer is my favourite as I love the packaging (purple is my favourite colour). It is potion bottle inspired and it is the first primer I remember ever seeing and wanting. The packa...
