LUNAR BEAUTY Strawberry Dream Palette

I did hear about this palette when it first launched a while ago, but the pops of blue to the colour story turned me off a little. I always loved the packaging design, but it wasn’t enough to make me buy it straight away. I eventually decided on purchasing it as a couple of Beauty Influencers I follow have recently mentioned the palette and they really like the quality. I was torn on whether to get this one or the Moon Spell Palette. The packaging for both attracts me so much, but the colour story of Strawberry Dream is more me.
Sadly my palette arrived damaged! I had heard stories of this happening to a few people who purchased this palette from Beauty Bay. Luckily it was only one broken eyeshadow and it is a matte one (Storm Cloud). I could either send the palette back for a full refund or I could keep it and receive a 40% refund (£19.20). I opted for the 40% refund as I still wanted the palette and didn’t want to risk the same thing happening again, but with a different shade or more shades. I also didn’t want to have to wait for another to arrive. I cleaned up the spilled powder as much as I could, but you can still see the stains. I also managed to re-press the eyeshadow, but it is still quite fragile. To re-press the eyeshadow, I scraped the whole shade out into a little bowl and crushed it up into a fine powder. I then tipped it back into the pan and pressed it down to make it flat into the pan. I then squirted it with setting spray a couple of times and then placed a bit of tissue over it with a 10p coin to weigh it down a little. I left it to air out a couple days and then it was ready. The eyeshadow feels quite dry and scratchy when you rub your finger in it and it is a little messy with the kick-back, but it does swatch ok.
THE PACKAGING
The packaging is made out of rectangular cardboard with a gorgeous pink moon, clouds, stars and sky design. The moon resembles a pearl and is slightly raised. It has a magnetic closing which you lift up to reveal the inside of the palette. The circle eyeshadow pans are arranged on a pink base with the shape names wrapped around one side of the pans. There is also a mirror.

MY THOUGHTS
·         Primer/Base - The eyeshadows are pigmented enough without a primer or base, but I would always lay one down. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Too Faced Glitter Glue.
·         Pigmentation - Perfect!
·         Application (wet/dry) - The eyeshadows can be applied wet or dry. I always use mattes dry, unless I am applying them to my lower lash line or using them as eyeliner. I sometimes apply metallics/shimmers wet, but it depends on the formula and whether they contain glitters. Wet application can max up the pigmentation and help prevent fallout.
·         Blending - They blend like a dream!
·         Kick-Back - Obviously, there is always going to be kick-back in your eyeshadow pans as you are disturbing powders. The kick-back was not a concern or issue for me in this particular palette.
·         Fallout - I only noticed slight glitter fallout from the glittery shades.

The packaging design is absolutely stunning! I really love it and it is what first attracted me to the palette. The colour story is also very attractive to me, but the two pops of blue did turn me off initially which is why it took so long for me to decide to buy it. The eyeshadows are great quality and just look stunning! The pink shades are very rich in pigment and I do like the strawberry scent of the eyeshadows, even if it is a bit unnecessary. Sunrise does blend out a little pink, but you can still tell that it is a red shade. My favourite shades are Blue Diamond, Ruby Skies, Skyline, Sunrise and Lightning. The only issues I sort of had were that the shade Storm Cloud was a little dry and hard to blend, but I don’t know if that is because I re-pressed it and the formula changed or whether it was always going to be like it. Nightfall has a pretty dry texture, but the other shimmers do not. Cloudy is a very light shade and barely shows up on my skin tone. Blue Sky and Haze blend out a bit hazy. As with most pressed pigments, you will notice slight staining from the red/pink shades. I found the staining easy to remove with micellar water. Overall I really enjoyed the looks I created with this palette and I am glad I finally decided to purchase it. The Lunar Beauty eyeshadow formula is pretty amazing. I can’t wait to see what more Manny comes out with!

HUDA BEAUTY Purple Haze Obsessions Palette

I’ve previously only tried one HUDA BEAUTY mini palette before, but this one really caught my eye. I almost bought the Khaki version too. I eventually decided on only picking up the purple one as I wasn’t massively impressed with the Topaz Obsessions Palette I previously tried.   THE PACKAGING The packaging is made of translucent purple plastic and it is square shaped. It just has the palette branding across the front in place of a design and it has a clip closing, which you lift up to reveal the square eyeshadow pans arranged in threes across an opaque matte purple base. Serial Sampler #42

I have wanted to try this fragrance for a very long time and I have seen the advertisements with Charlize Theron countless times over the years. For some reason, I just didn’t look for it to test so I thought it was about time I did. I decided to purchase a sample online.   It is J’adore by Christian Dior and it is a 1ml spritzer sample of the eau de parfum.   “ J’adore’s original composition is a sophisticated harmony blossoming from Comoro Islands Ylang-Ylang and Damascus Rose Essences and Jasmine Sambac Absolute. ” Launched: 1999   Type: Floral Fruity / Feminine Notes Top: Pear, Melon, Magnolia, Peach, Mandarin Orange and Bergamot. Middle: Jasmine, Lily-Of-The-Valley, Tuberose, Freesia, Rose, Orchid, Plum and Violet. Base: Musk, Vanilla, Blackberry and Cedar. My assumption before testing this fragrance is that it would smell like an old classic (old lady) floral. It is very floral, but you do get the hit of the fresh fruity notes. I can mostly detect the Magnoli...
