Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette

I believe this palette has been out for a few years now. I had seen it online before, but Too Faced products were not readily accessible to me at the time. I could only purchase them from LookFantastic.com and CultBeauty.co.uk. They didn’t stock the full range of TF products and it can take them a long time to get some of the products in. They tend to offer the main releases, but I guess this palette wasn’t considered a main release! The colour story attracts me, but I am not generally a fan of all matte palettes, so I almost gave this one a miss.

THE PACKAGING
The packaging is small and compact; it kind of reminds me of the shape of a clutch bag. It is rectangular and made of gold plastic. It has a sort of gel covering on the front of the palette, which is raised. It also has a white, peach and pink ombre effect design on the front with a little peach image. It has a magnetic closing, which opens to reveal a small mirror and the twelve eyeshadow pans. The eyeshadow pans are arranged on a black plastic base with the shade names printed under each pan in gold all caps lettering.

MY THOUGHTS
·         Primer/Base - The eyeshadows are pigmented enough without a primer or base, but I would always lay one down. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Too Faced Glitter Glue.
·         Pigmentation - The pigmentation is pretty great, but a couple of the darker shades are a little patchy.
·         Application (wet/dry) - The eyeshadows can be applied wet or dry. I always use mattes dry, unless I am applying them to my lower lash line or using them as eyeliner. I sometimes apply metallics/shimmers wet, but it depends on the formula and whether they contain glitters. Wet application can max up the pigmentation and help prevent fallout.
·         Blending - They mostly blend seamlessly, but I did have a spot of bother with three shades.
·         Kick-Back - Obviously, there is always going to be kick-back in your eyeshadow pans as you are disturbing powders. The kick-back was not a concern or issue for me in this particular palette.
·         Fallout - I didn’t notice any fallout at all.

I think the packaging is cute and I like how compact it is. The colour story is right up my street and I do like the light peach scent of the eyeshadows. The light to mid-tone shades blend like a dream and looked seamless. A few of the lighter shades are a bit light for my skin tone, but they do work well as blending out or brow bone shades. My favourite shades are; Peach Cobbler and Fresh-Picked. The issue I had was that the shades; Peach Tart, Just Ripe, Peach Sangria and Chocolate Dipped were slightly patchy and hard to blend. Chocolate Dipped was the best performing out of the four. Also, Peach Sangria is not matte, but it is included in an all mattes palette! To be fair, it did look mostly matte on the skin. There is a shade in the Sweet Peach Palette also called Just Peachy. I’m not sure if it is the same shade as the one in this palette, but the formula finish is different for it in the Sweet Peach Palette. It could be a coincidence and they could have forgotten that they already have an eyeshadow with that name or it could be on purpose and they just changed the finish of the shade to go with the aesthetic for this matte palette. Overall, the majority of the shades are beautiful but there are four duds for me. The looks I created mostly looked the same, so I wasn’t really getting any variety. I am also not a fan of all matte looks or palettes. I originally bought this palette because I thought I could just use some single shimmers to pair with it, but honestly because the quality hasn’t blown me away, I would much rather use a different palette that has all the finishes I like! I wouldn’t really recommend this palette as there are cheaper options available that will be better quality. The drugstore tends to have a lot of all matte quads, which would give you the same look as you would get from this palette. I do like the overall aesthetic, but it is just a no from me!

e.l.f Earth & Ocean Palette

I haven’t purchased anything from e.l.f in the longest time. I happened upon a post of this palette on Instagram and the complimentary comments really peaked my interest in trying it for myself. Palettes I have tried from e.l.f. in the past haven’t been the greatest of quality; I kind of associate the brand as being for children, beginners or natural beauty wearers. I was also interested in the Retro Paradise Palette , but I thought I would get more use out of this one at the moment.   THE PACKAGING The packaging is quite simple with a clear/black outlined plastic rectangular shape. The fronting is transparent so that you can see the eyeshadows from the outside of the palette. It has a clip closing, which you push apart to reveal the inside. The square eyeshadow pans are spread out across a black base and the shade names are printed in grey font under each pan. THE EYESHADOWS & FORMULA You get eighteen 0.94g eyeshadows in Matte (M), Metallic (ME), Glitter (G), Satin (S) and Shi...

Review: Rimmel Wake Me Up

Wake Me Up Foundation I bought this after seeing the advertisement for it on Rimmel’s Facebook, and I thought the description sounded perfect for me. The packaging is made of glass and it has a curved shape, with the Rimmel logo and product name printed in the centre on a bit of plastic tape. The cap is a slanted block shape made of plastic and it is a bright orange colour with glitter sparkle. This product has an orange plastic pump, which dispenses the product. All the relevant information is printed on the back, like most products. It is also packaged in a plastic wrapper, with a security tag. This product is marketed as a foundation that “instantly reawakens skin, with a healthy, radiant glow”. It is also mean’t to be light weight and give a poreless and flawless complexion. It also contains SPF15 for sun protection and illuminating pearls, which is mean’t to give your face a natural glow. It is also mean’t to “bounce your skin back to life” and banish the signs of fat...

Perfume Power! - Christina Aguilera 'Woman'

I decided to buy this perfume as it was on my test list on Fragrantica and I saw it for a decent price. I have been struggling to find places to buy perfume samples lately, so I took a gamble and bought the smallest bottle size I could. I got the 30ml bottle in the eau de parfum. The bottle is made of glass and kind of an hourglass shape, just like some of Christina’s other perfumes. It has a yellow gold flower design on the thinnest part of the bottle and Christina’s name is printed in hot pink and the perfume name printed in yellow gold. It also has yellow gold banding around the neck for the cap to sit on. The cap is clear plastic and kind of diamond shaped. It has a slight yellow gold spritzer to dispense the scent. On the outer cardboard box it had this description; “A sensual combination of golden amber and white flowers - radiating femininity the way a woman does”. The fragrance notes are:- Top Notes: Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Litchi & Pear Middle Notes: Magnol...
