Empties #8 - May & June 2013

I hope you don’t mind that I combined two month’s worth of empties. I decided to combine them because looking back at the majority of my empties posts, all the products seem to be necessities like mouthwash, deodorant and so on and I think writing about the same thing over and over again, could be quite boring to read. So I thought within two months there should be some interesting products to mention. Enjoy.

Right Guard Women Total Defence 5 48H Invisible Power Anti-Perspirant Deodorant – 250ml + 150ml
This was my first time using this deodorant and I love it. It smells really nice and fresh and definitely does the job it is marketed for and I have already re-purchased it, several cans to be exact! The only problem is that shops sell the 250ml at various prices, for example, in Boots it is £3.19 but in Asda it is £1.50!
Price - £2+

Morrisons So Clear Dual Action Moisturiser – 100ml
This was my first tube of this moisturiser and I really like it. It is lightweight and really moisturises your face and it can be used on your body too. It is just a basic moisturiser really but it works, it smells nice and it is inexpensive. I have already re-purchased it and would again.
Price - £1.49

Morrisons So Clear Deep Clean Cleanser – 200ml
This was my first bottle of this cleanser and I really enjoyed using it. I used it in the morning and you could see on the cotton pad all the dirt left over from the night before and any collected during a night’s sleep. It smells really nice too and I have already re-purchased it.
Price - £1.49

Soap & Glory You Won’t Believe Your Eyes Moisture Serum – 15ml
I have now used up my first ever eye cream! I bought this because I have discolouration under my eyes and my eyes sometimes look puffy because of lack of sleep. I wanted an eye cream to try and get rid of the purple/blue colour and in conjunction with trying to go to bed earlier, hopefully ending up with nice, smooth and wide awake eyes. The gel is very soothing, hydrating and moisturising, but I didn’t notice any difference to my eyes. They did look less puffy but nothing majorly changed. I also didn’t like that the gel had a purple tinted colour, which is why I only used it before going to bed. When I would wake up in the morning, there would be purple residue still under my eye, which means it wouldn’t be something advisable to put on in the morning if you want to wear make-up! On this note, I will not be re-purchasing because for what it does and the price of it, I do not think it is worth it!
Price - £10.50

Home Bargains My Baby Wipes (Fragrance Free) – 72 Wipes
This was my last packet of these and they are just basic baby wipes, but they are not very moist. I use them to take my make-up off at night and because of the lack of moisture in them, I have to soak them in water beforehand.
Price - 39p

L’ORÉAL False Lash Telescopic Mascara – 9ml
I had the shade Magnetic Black and I really loved using this mascara. This is definitely in my top three! It gives your lashes lots of volume, definition, length, bold colour and it really does look like you are wearing false lashes. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it is quite expensive, other than that I do recommend it and I would re-purchase.
Price - £10.99

Soap & Glory Thick & Fast™ Mascara – 10ml
I had this in the shade Superjet Black, which is currently the only shade it comes in and I did really like this one too, but not as much as the L’ORÉAL one. It gives your lashes volume, length and definition and it is not flaky or clumpy. I will not be re-purchasing this mascara because I have tried better ones, but I do recommend it.
Price - £10

febreze Mist & Refresh in Thai Orchid – 300ml
This product isn’t beauty related but I thought I would mention it anyway because Beauty Bloggers usually mention candles in their empties and I don’t currently burn candles so this is my substitute. Febreze from my experience is the best for air fresheners, along with Glade. I have tried many scents and Thai Orchid is definitely one of my favourites. It is really strong and smells really florally and is one of the best scents Febreze do. I’m not certain but I think this scent is limited edition. Because I have used this one up, I have already re-purchased a different one of my favourites called Cotton Fresh.
Price - £3

Morrisons Daily Care Mouthwash in Cool Mint – 500ml
I have used up yet another bottle of this and I only buy this one if my Listerine one is out of stock.
Price - 49p

Vaseline Healthy Hand & Nail Conditioning Hand Cream – 200ml
I’ve had this bottle for a really long time and I have finally used it up! It is very thin in consistency and it is moisturising and non-greasy, but I didn’t notice any difference to my nails. I bought this to try and help make my nails stronger, but I don’t feel it worked because my nails have been continually breaking! Although this is a great basic hand cream, I will not be re-purchasing because it didn’t do anything for my nails, plus Vaseline does other hand creams with different properties which may be more of use to me in the future.
Price - £3.27

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in 100 Ivory – 30ml
This was my second bottle of this foundation and it is definitely one of my favourites. I won’t say too much because I have already reviewed this product here and I won’t be re-purchasing it for a while because I am currently using a different one and I have a lot of BB creams to get through!
Price - £8.99

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in 010 Ivory – 7ml
This was my only tube of this concealer and it has taken me a long time to get through it. It is a very good concealer and I find it looks best when used in conjunction with the matching foundation. I probably will not re-purchase this one because there are other drugstore concealers I am interested in trying. I have already reviewed this product here.
Price - £5.49

Morrisons Savers Shaving Foam – 250ml
I’ve finished another can of this shaving foam. It is inexpensive and it does the job, which is why I continue to re-purchase.
Price - 49p

*SANCTUARY SPA COVENT GARDEN Body Scrub – 50ml
I got this sample in a gift set I received for Easter and it is not a bad product. It smells amazing and it does make your skin feel very smooth. I probably will not re-purchase because I have other body scrubs to use up and they are rougher, so if I feel the need to use a scrub I tend to want something that isn’t as gentle as this one.
Price - £5.25

Soap & Glory Hand Maid Hand Cleansing Gel – 50ml
I still really love this and it was my last bottle. I will definitely be re-purchasing this very soon.
Price - £2.50

Morrisons Total Care Breath Freshening Spray – 12.5ml
This is not a bad product. It does make your mouth feel fresh and it is not too expensive. It is not as strong tasting as the Macleans one, which is the one I like the most, even the weird taste! I’ll keep re-purchasing this one though, because I haven’t seen the Macleans one in store for a while now.
Price - £2.50

Vaseline Hand 2 in 1 Hand Cream + Anti-Bac – 75ml
I didn’t completely use up both of the tubes of this, but I just had to get rid of them! I bought this product because I wanted an all in one hand cream and sanitiser, so it would save room in my bag as well as enabling me to moisturise my hands more.  It was a great product when I first started using it and I re-purchased so I had one in my handbag and one in my work bag. It smelled so clean and fresh and I loved it. The cream was not thick, but it was smooth and non-greasy. I think it may be because I had them a while, but now they don’t smell of anything and the cream dries to a sticky and greasy finish on my hands! So I will not be re-purchasing, because I now prefer having a separate hand gel.
Price - £3.49

Congratulations if you made it to the end of this very long post! I hope you enjoyed reading and keep checking back for new posts.

Bye!

Oden's Eye Solmåne Eyeshadow Palette

I first heard of this indie brand through watching Angelika Oles’ beauty channel on YouTube. Oden’s Eye is a Swedish indie brand and they make Norse mythology themed products. This is one of two eyeshadow palettes I decided to purchase; I also picked up the two matching highlighter palettes.   THE PACKAGING The packaging is small and rectangular in shape. It is made out of cardboard and it has a sort of textured covering (like on pogs). The design and imagery is so unique to the brand. Solmåne means the sun and moon in Swedish. Sol represents the Sun Goddess and Måne represents the Moon God. Both Gods are represented on the packaging. There is a colour split of warm and cool toned shades (lavender, pink, orange & yellow) along with moon, star and Norse symbols. The wheel around the Gods is metallic gold, so it really reflects the light when you move the palette around. The eyeshadow shade names are printed on the back of the palette. The palette has a magnetic closing/opening, ...

My Favourite TV Series

I have already shared with you some current favourite songs and my favourite films. I thought it was now time to mention my favourite TV series. Here are my top ten favourite TV series:-   Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003) This series is about a teenager who becomes the next vampire slayer. Only one slayer is born into every generation and one has to die for another to be activated. It is a kind of coming of age story and I love strong female characters. I also just loved the fight scenes. I was only four when this series first came out, so I did miss a few seasons at first. About five years ago, I did re-watch all seven seasons. I was sad it ended, but there are only so many monsters you can introduce and slay before it gets monotonous! It did watch the spin-off show Angel, but it didn’t have the same magic and feel to it for me.   Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999-) I am quite partial to a crime drama and it all started with CSI: Miami. I watched all of the Amer...

Review: Travalo Classic

I was sorting through some old pictures in my blog folder on my computer and I came across some Travalo pictures I took, and remembered I was mean’t to do a post about it. So better late than never, I am going to share with you how to use it and what I think. About the Travalo The Travalo is a small and handy perfume atomiser that allows you to decant a small amount of your favourite perfume into the tube and carry it with you, so you don’t have to carry around the bottle. It is made of strong, light aluminium and is 80mm in size and holds 4ml of liquid, which is approximately fifty sprays. It is also a “perfectly” rounded shape, which means there are no corners, so you don’t have to worry about it ripping your handbag, purse and pockets or scratching any furniture and surfaces. How to Use It If you want to decant some perfume to put in the Travalo you need to: 1. Take the spray cap off the perfume bottle 2. Get your Travalo and hold it upright over the spray s...
