Glossybox #10 - July 2014

I saw a preview of this box last month and it looked as though it would be a special box, because it is American themed and it would be the July box (4th July!). I was slightly disappointed in this box, but there was a good range of cosmetics included. Here is what I got this month:-

bellápierre Cosmetics Mineral Lipstick in Ruby
£20 - BellaPierre.co.uk
The packaging of this product is beautiful, but I find the shade so scary! It is an intense pink based red and it smells just like the MAC lipsticks. I probably won’t get much use out of it, but I will try and make it work.

ABSOLUTE New York Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer
$4.99 - Nicka.com
I’ve not heard of this brand before, but I am very interested in trying this primer.

Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm (pot)
£2.69 - MyCarmex.com
I already have some lip balms from Carmex. It is a great brand and the products are nice, but I am bored of them now. I prefer drier stick balms, so I will probably give this to my sister.

Color Club Nail Polish in Glossy Seal
$8 - ShopColorClub.com
This brand is new to me too and the polish bottle seems huge! It looks like a nice colour, but not one I would particularly choose to paint my nails. My sister has already called dibs on this!

NYC High Definition Felt Top Liner in Extra Black
£2.99 - NewYorkColor.com
I have used this brand for years and it doesn’t get enough credit! I was looking to buy a new felt tip eyeliner and now I don’t have to bother. I am excited to test it out and see if I can apply it easier.

This was not a bad box and everything was really make-up related, but the whole special box thing kind of reached an anti-climax. I was expecting something brilliant, with it being an American special box. Nevertheless I will get use out of the products. I have also now saved up enough Glossydots, so my August box will be free; I am pretty excited about it!

What are your thoughts on this box?

e.l.f Earth & Ocean Palette

I haven’t purchased anything from e.l.f in the longest time. I happened upon a post of this palette on Instagram and the complimentary comments really peaked my interest in trying it for myself. Palettes I have tried from e.l.f. in the past haven’t been the greatest of quality; I kind of associate the brand as being for children, beginners or natural beauty wearers. I was also interested in the Retro Paradise Palette , but I thought I would get more use out of this one at the moment.   THE PACKAGING The packaging is quite simple with a clear/black outlined plastic rectangular shape. The fronting is transparent so that you can see the eyeshadows from the outside of the palette. It has a clip closing, which you push apart to reveal the inside. The square eyeshadow pans are spread out across a black base and the shade names are printed in grey font under each pan. THE EYESHADOWS & FORMULA You get eighteen 0.94g eyeshadows in Matte (M), Metallic (ME), Glitter (G), Satin (S) and Shi...

KALEIDOS Futurism II: Cyber Bronze Palette

I have seen these palettes before on YouTube, a few people I follow have featured them in palette collection videos. The colour stories always looked incredible, but I knew I probably wouldn’t get much use out of them as the colours are bright and you are limited to six shades. I had only really seen the Futurism III: Astro-Pink , Futurism I: Sci-Fi Green , Futurism IV: VR Neon and Futurism V: Electro-Turquoise ones before. When I made my first Kaleidos order, I didn’t bother looking at the palettes as I knew I wanted the highlighters and it was going to be pricey as it was. I was browsing through Depop on the day my order arrived and came across the Futurism II: Cyber Bronze Palette . I think the seller must have received her order the same day as me. I instantly fell in love with the colour story, but I pondered over whether to purchase it or not. At 3am the next morning (insomnia), I bit the bullet and made my purchase. It was brand new and untouched, I just couldn’t! THE P...

Violet Voss X Laura Lee Palette

After being blown away by the Holy Grail Palette, I just couldn’t pass on this one! The shade selection doesn’t appeal to me as much, but I know the quality will be there. Also, this palette is limited edition so I wouldn’t recommend hesitating if you are interested in it. I believe this palette is a collaboration with a YouTuber called Laura Lee. I don’t know anything about Laura, but from what I gather she makes beauty videos. The palette design is similar to the Holy Grail Palette but the colour scheme is different, but it still has the holographic effect on the packaging. It has a rectangular shape to it and it is slightly bulky and has a little weight to it. It has a magnetic closing and when you lift the lid it reveals the eyeshadow pans and a mirror. The packaging colour scheme is black and silver. You get twenty 36g eyeshadows in a variety of shades and finishes.
