Serial Sampler #26

I am sampling a newer version of a really old perfume today. It was first released way back in 1957 and dedicated to the actress Audrey Hepburn. It was modernised and re-released in 2018, which is the version I am testing today. I believe the name of the fragrance means ‘The Forbidden’ in French.

It is L’Interdit by GIVENCHY and it is a 1ml spritzer sample of the eau de parfum.

“The shocking side of chic. A forbidden blend of a white flower and a dark accord. A resolutely underground flower.”
It contains a mixture of notes such as; Bergamot, Pear, Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Jasmine Sambac, Patchouli, Vetiver, Ambroxan and Vanilla.

This smells very classy and floral. It is not too strong, but you can definitely smell the Bergamot, Pear, Jasmine Sambac and Patchouli notes. The Pear does tone the floraliness down quite a bit, which is why I quite like it. I wouldn’t go out and purchase a bottle right away as it isn’t my typical scent and it reads as a mature scent to me, but I will definitely finish up the sample and keep it in mind should my taste in fragrances change in the future.

You can buy it in 35ml (£52/$67), 50ml (£73.50/$93) and 80ml (£88.50/$111) and it is available at places such as; Boots, Superdrug, FeelUnique.com, Macys.com and Sephora.

Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips & Remover

I had wanted to try these lipsticks for a very long time, but I was sceptical as I had heard mixed reviews. Some people love them, some people dislike them. I had also heard that they are very hard to remove, which leads me to believe that the staying power must be there. My current favourite liquid lipsticks are still the JSC Velour ones and nothing else I have tried has topped them yet, a couple of brands have come close though! ABOUT THE PRODUCTS The packaging of the lipsticks is simple, but aesthetically pleasing; I like the blue accent caps. It is made out of plastic and there is something inside the tube to make the formula looked twisted in the tube, which is a nice detail that I haven’t seen before. The applicator is a little pear shaped sponge with a little well in the middle to hold the product. The packaging of the remover is also pretty simple and cute. The container is made of lightweight plastic and you could easily repurpose it once you have used up the wipes. You get 3...

Too Faced Pumpkin Spice Palette

I first saw a preview of this palette in early August on the Trendmood Instagram page. I just knew I had to have it. I also own and love the Gingerbread Spice and Gingerbread Extra Spicy Palettes by Too Faced. These are the only types of holiday palettes that actually interest me from Too Faced. All of their other holiday palettes tend to be gimmicky (but pretty looking) and not good quality. THE PACKAGING The packaging is a rounded rectangular shaped tin in a beautiful pumpkin orange colour. The design on the front kind of looks like spread on a cracker. The name of the palette is printed in two different raised fonts. It has a magnetic closing, which you lift up to reveal the inside of the palette. The little rectangular eyeshadow pans are arranged across a metallic gold base, with the shade names printed in a small black font above each pan. There is also a mirror on the underside of the lid of the palette. THE EYESHADOWS & FORMULA You get eighteen 0.70g eyeshadows in Matte (M),...

Serial Sampler #17

I chose this sample as my free gift with purchase and I hadn’t heard of the brand before. It happens to be part of a series of four fragrances and they are all unisex/genderless. The designs of the full sized bottles are very interesting and artsy. Looking at the four, had I been able to pick which one to receive, I most likely would have chosen the one called 10am Flirt as it seems the fruitiest based of the four. The sample I have is Santal Sky by KIERIN NYC and it is a 1.5ml spritzer sample of the eau de parfum. “Intertwined like vines, we stroll through Central Park. Leaves release their woody fragrance. Under a canopy of trees, in the center of it all, we are a million miles from city life. Music from impromptu drum circles, the rhythm of runners’ footsteps, diverse languages fill my ears like poetry. This retreat into nature refreshes my soul. The sun smiling down upon us, I pull my loved one close. In synchronicity we breathe.” It contains a mixture notes, such ...
