Colourpop X Disney Mulan Palette

When I saw the packaging design and colour story of this palette, I knew I wanted it! I was initially hesitant because I wasn’t blown away by the first Colourpop Palette I tried (Main Squeeze), but I had heard that the neutral/bigger palettes are slightly better quality. Some bright colour shades can be hard to formulate, plus the mini nine pan palettes tend to be more monochromatic in colour story, which can be an issue if you want varied looks.
THE PACKAGING
The packaging is made out of red cardboard and it has a gold design all over it. The palette looks quite shiny and it appears that some of the design has a plastic covering over it. The palette name and branding is printed in gold and the shade names are printed on the back of the palette. It has a magnetic closing, which you lift up to reveal the inside of the palette. The circle eyeshadow pans are arranged on a black base with the shade names printed underneath them in red font. On the underside of the lid, where you would usually find a mirror, there is a sort of cartoon design of Mulan instead.

MY THOUGHTS
·         Primer/Base - The eyeshadows are pigmented enough without a primer or base, but I would always lay one down. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Too Faced Glitter Glue.
·         Pigmentation - The pigmentation was very decent to my surprise. Some of the matte shades are much richer than others. The pressed glitters are a bit gritty when you finger swatch them, they perform better when applied over glitter glue on your eye. They do have a base colour, so it isn’t just coloured glitter.
·         Application (wet/dry) - The eyeshadows can be applied wet or dry. I always use mattes dry, unless I am applying them to my lower lash line or using them as eyeliner. I sometimes apply metallics/shimmers wet, but it depends on the formula and whether they contain glitters. Wet application can max up the pigmentation and help prevent fallout.
·         Blending - They do blend very nicely and seamlessly.
·         Kick-Back - Obviously, there is always going to be kick-back in your eyeshadow pans as you are disturbing powders. The kick-back was not a concern or issue for me in this particular palette.
·         Fallout - I only noticed some from the pressed glitter shades. You need to be very careful when applying them and use a good tacky glitter glue. I recommend applying them with your finger.

I absolutely love the packaging design! It is quite unique and unlike a design Colourpop has had before. I really enjoy the colour story. The following shades do have a matte finish, but they have a few sparkles in them; Brave, Defiant and Legacy. These sparkle matte shades perform better than the actual matte shades. They are much richer in pigment. I think the shade Warrior is in the Supershock formula as it is very buttery. My favourite shades are Strike A Match, Be Swift and Brave. I can’t really think of a bad word to say about this palette. I am glad I got the chance to try it and I am now interested in trying more Colourpop Palettes, especially the newer releases.

Oden's Eye Norn’s Mesmerizer Highlighters

When I saw that Oden’s Eye posted on their Instagram page about their new Norn’s Series Collection, I knew I would be making my second purchase of their products. The collection as a whole includes four eyeshadow palettes and three highlighters. The palettes all looked beautiful, but I knew I wouldn’t get much use out of them and I didn’t just want to buy them to swatch and post about and then not use again. I did want to buy all three highlighters, but I settled on the two that I would get most use out of. The one I didn’t choose is a stunning blue and silver shade and I just knew I wouldn’t wear it as much as the other two. I already own a few other blue highlighters and I hardly ever wear them. I believe only the three highlighters are limited edition and the eyeshadow palettes are all permanent. ABOUT THE PRODUCT In Norse mythology, three sisters (Norn’s) weave and guard the web of fate. They also attend the spring of life that supports the World Tree. The highlighters reflect the ...

ZOEVA Rose Golden Palette

I saw this palette a while ago on a beauty blog and instantly knew I had to have it. It’s not long launched here in the UK, but it’s already a cult favourite! I just adore the packaging, everything about it! It’s made out of cardboard, but it feels sturdy and durable and it is a gorgeous kind of coffee/red velvet chocolate colour. It has a beautiful rose gold design on the front, with swirls and then a centered key. It has a magnetic closing, which is quite strong because if you hold it from the top when closed and give it a shake, the two parts don’t separate (palette doesn’t open). It has a light feel in general and inside it’s all one beautiful colour and the eyeshadows are well spaced. Around each pan is a rose gold diamond border and underneath in small rose gold letters are the shade names. On the back of the palette is the usual ingredients and other information blurbs. You get ten full size eyeshadows (0.5oz) with matte, metallic or satin finishes and each has a cute...

My Eye Primers: The Verdict!

It has taken me a long time to put this altogether, but I have finally done it! I decided I wanted to share my thoughts on eye primers I had tried and it turned out that I had ten, so I thought I would test them and find out which one worked best for me. I have split them into two categories (High End/Low End) and I aim to rank them from #1 to #10 on which is the longest wearing. Let’s look at the primers I will be testing. HIGH END URBAN DECAY PRIMER POTION PRICE: £17.50 SIZE: 10ml SHADES: Original, Anti-ageing, Freebase, Eden, Fix, Minor Sin, Sin and Caffeine APPLICATION: Squeeze tube without a nozzle, but also has a sponge stick applicator PROMISES: Non-creasing, gives you vibrant eyeshadows WHERE TO BUY: UrbanDecay.co.uk (UK) & Sephora (USA) I like to think that this primer is my favourite as I love the packaging (purple is my favourite colour). It is potion bottle inspired and it is the first primer I remember ever seeing and wanting. The packa...
