Anastasia Beverly Hills NORVINA Pro-Pigment Palette - Volume 4

I wanted to purchase this palette when it was first released as it was the only NORVINA Pro-Pigment Palette that interested me. I love the look of the other palettes, but I knew I wouldn’t get use out of them. These palettes are actually targeted towards professional use.

MY THOUGHTS
·         Primer/Base - The eyeshadows are pigmented enough without a primer or base, but I would always lay one down. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Too Faced Glitter Glue.
·         Pigmentation - The pigmentation is generally great, but there are a couple of exceptions.
·         Application (wet/dry) - The eyeshadows can be applied wet or dry. I always use mattes dry, unless I am applying them to my lower lash line or using them as eyeliner. I sometimes apply metallics/shimmers wet, but it depends on the formula and whether they contain glitters. Wet application can max up the pigmentation and help prevent fallout.
·         Blending - The mattes are very easy to blend and they look seamless.
·         Kick-Back - Obviously, there is always going to be kick-back in your eyeshadow pans as you are disturbing powders. The kick-back was not a concern or issue for me in this particular palette.
·         Fallout - I only noticed fallout with the metallic and pressed glitter shades.

I think this palette is quite nice, but I’m not sure how it can be targeted towards professional use. The mattes are lovely and blend really well and the shimmers/metallics are mostly great too. I believe the formula is different to the regular Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palettes, which I can sort of tell. The mattes are smooth, but not as buttery as the original/regular ABH formula. The metallic shades are also not as molten looking as the original/regular ABH formula. Shades A1 and A2 are not described as being pressed glitters, but they definitely contain gritty glitters. They are different in texture to the listed pressed glitter shades; E2 and E3. A1 and A2 have some base pigment to them, which your average pressed glitters tend not to have, which is why glitter glue is needed to make them stick to your eyes. The only issues I had were that C1 looks beautiful in the pan, but there isn’t really any pigment when you try and apply it to your eyes. D3 and D4 also do not really pick-up, I tried with a brush and my finger and I still couldn’t really get them to work. D2 looks quite bright in the pan, but it just doesn’t translate onto the skin. It is quite chalky and it took some building up to show up on my eyes. It is a really subtle urine yellow, not the sort of electric yellow that it looks like in the pan. My favourite shades are; A1, A2, A5, C4 and E2. I did experience staining from the pink/red shades, but it disappeared when I washed my face. Overall I did enjoy using this palette and the colour story is definitely my cup of tea. There is just no wow factor for me. I was expecting more and was expecting the formula to be amazing because the price is pretty up there. I don’t really see professional make-up artists using this palette and it is a bit expensive for what you get for your average beauty consumer like me. The cost actually isn’t too much when you divide it by how many shades you get, but I tend to base the price over the whole palette because you sometimes get dud shades or shades you’re not really bothered about using. I would definitely recommend the usual ABH formula over this one and I am glad I didn’t purchase the other three large NORIVA palettes.

Violet Voss X Laura Lee Palette

After being blown away by the Holy Grail Palette, I just couldn’t pass on this one! The shade selection doesn’t appeal to me as much, but I know the quality will be there. Also, this palette is limited edition so I wouldn’t recommend hesitating if you are interested in it. I believe this palette is a collaboration with a YouTuber called Laura Lee. I don’t know anything about Laura, but from what I gather she makes beauty videos. The palette design is similar to the Holy Grail Palette but the colour scheme is different, but it still has the holographic effect on the packaging. It has a rectangular shape to it and it is slightly bulky and has a little weight to it. It has a magnetic closing and when you lift the lid it reveals the eyeshadow pans and a mirror. The packaging colour scheme is black and silver. You get twenty 36g eyeshadows in a variety of shades and finishes. Serial Sampler #42

I have wanted to try this fragrance for a very long time and I have seen the advertisements with Charlize Theron countless times over the years. For some reason, I just didn’t look for it to test so I thought it was about time I did. I decided to purchase a sample online.   It is J’adore by Christian Dior and it is a 1ml spritzer sample of the eau de parfum.   “ J’adore’s original composition is a sophisticated harmony blossoming from Comoro Islands Ylang-Ylang and Damascus Rose Essences and Jasmine Sambac Absolute. ” Launched: 1999   Type: Floral Fruity / Feminine Notes Top: Pear, Melon, Magnolia, Peach, Mandarin Orange and Bergamot. Middle: Jasmine, Lily-Of-The-Valley, Tuberose, Freesia, Rose, Orchid, Plum and Violet. Base: Musk, Vanilla, Blackberry and Cedar. My assumption before testing this fragrance is that it would smell like an old classic (old lady) floral. It is very floral, but you do get the hit of the fresh fruity notes. I can mostly detect the Magnoli...

Becca's Babble's #4: My Current Favourite Songs

Photo: TheDJ.co.uk I thought I would post about something different today, something not beauty related. I have found myself listening to more music lately, seeing as though I have more time on my hands whilst the UK is on a sort of lockdown and I cannot go to work. By listening to more music, I mean more of the songs I have downloaded. I don’t really get to hear much new music as I do not listen to the radio or watch music channels on the TV. I am also kind of old school with music. I actually download the songs onto my PC instead of using a music streaming service. I just personally find it easier; I can then copy the songs to my phone. Streaming sites tend to delete their content after a while, but if you have the songs downloaded, you can never lose them until you delete them. I do subscribe to Amazon Music for my Echo Dot though, but I do find it incredibly frustrating when Alexa doesn’t understand what I want her to play, even though I am saying it in plain English!! Anyway...
