Blogmas #21 | Benefit Luv It Up! Gift Set (Limited Edition)

I was browsing through LookFantastic.com looking at Benefit products and I came across this gift set. What first drew me in was the tin, it is beautiful. I was also interested in trying the included products and I thought it would be a good way to try more products from Benefit. It is inexpensive and would make a lovely Christmas gift for a beauty junkie.
The products are arranged inside a gorgeous little tiffany blue/lime green inspired tin. Inside the tin is the insert which holds the products in place and it can be removed so the tin can be re-used.
This gift set contains three Longwear Powder Shadows (1.2g sample), one Ultra Plush Lipgloss (6.5ml sample) and one Creaseless Cream Shadow (3.2g sample).
The eyeshadows are Call My Buff (pale shell), Nude Swings (soft rose gold) and Thanks A Latte (golden brown). They are mean’t to be long wearing, feel silky soft and give your eyelids a soft wash of colour, which can be built to intensity. There are also three variations, Matte, Satin and Sheen, but it doesn’t say which ones these three shades fall into.
The cream eyeshadow is R.S.V.P (sparkling champagne). I already have it swatched here. I really love this product and have already reviewed here.

The lipgloss is Dandelion (soft pearly pink). I like this product, but I just do not like lipgloss in general. I have it reviewed it here.
Overall this is a very cute little gift set and the lovely tin can be re-used. I love the creaseless cream eyeshadow and I do like the lipgloss. The powder eyeshadows are a little bit of a let-down. They are slightly long wearing, silky soft, easy to blend and fall-out free. However, they lack pigmentation. They do give your eyelids a soft wash, but it is very hard and near impossible to build to intensity! If you want to make the best of the eyeshadows, you need to apply them over a primer or the creaseless cream shadow included. Although it is a cute set and I would get use out of it, it is more on the nude/natural side and the shades are really subtle and hardly noticeable. They basically give the no make-up, make-up look. If that is what you are after, this would be brilliant for you. I like neutral looks, not nude looks! I wouldn’t re-purchase anything from the set.

Empties #10 - August & September 2013

I have combined two month’s worth of empties again. At the end of August my box wasn’t that full, so I decided to carry on collecting and hope I use up more stuff. The majority of stuff I used up was necessities as usual, but there are some extra bits too. Here is what I managed to use up within two months:- Morrisons So Clear Dual Action Moisturiser | 100ml I have used another tube of this and have already re-purchased it. It works really well and doubles as a hand cream and most importantly, it is very inexpensive. Price - £1.49 Listerine Total Care Mouthwash in Clean Mint (Purple) | 500ml This is my favourite mouthwash and I have already re-purchased it. Although I get it for around £2.99, I still wish it was cheaper. Price - £4.60 Right Guard Women Total Defence 5 48H Invisible Power Anti-Perspirant Deodorant | 150ml + 250ml I have used more of these as usual and I still haven’t found anything that is better. I have however found a cheaper place to buy it f...

Oden's Eye Solmåne Eyeshadow Palette

I first heard of this indie brand through watching Angelika Oles’ beauty channel on YouTube. Oden’s Eye is a Swedish indie brand and they make Norse mythology themed products. This is one of two eyeshadow palettes I decided to purchase; I also picked up the two matching highlighter palettes.   THE PACKAGING The packaging is small and rectangular in shape. It is made out of cardboard and it has a sort of textured covering (like on pogs). The design and imagery is so unique to the brand. Solmåne means the sun and moon in Swedish. Sol represents the Sun Goddess and Måne represents the Moon God. Both Gods are represented on the packaging. There is a colour split of warm and cool toned shades (lavender, pink, orange & yellow) along with moon, star and Norse symbols. The wheel around the Gods is metallic gold, so it really reflects the light when you move the palette around. The eyeshadow shade names are printed on the back of the palette. The palette has a magnetic closing/opening, ...

Too Faced Pumpkin Spice Palette

I first saw a preview of this palette in early August on the Trendmood Instagram page. I just knew I had to have it. I also own and love the Gingerbread Spice and Gingerbread Extra Spicy Palettes by Too Faced. These are the only types of holiday palettes that actually interest me from Too Faced. All of their other holiday palettes tend to be gimmicky (but pretty looking) and not good quality. THE PACKAGING The packaging is a rounded rectangular shaped tin in a beautiful pumpkin orange colour. The design on the front kind of looks like spread on a cracker. The name of the palette is printed in two different raised fonts. It has a magnetic closing, which you lift up to reveal the inside of the palette. The little rectangular eyeshadow pans are arranged across a metallic gold base, with the shade names printed in a small black font above each pan. There is also a mirror on the underside of the lid of the palette. THE EYESHADOWS & FORMULA You get eighteen 0.70g eyeshadows in Matte (M),...
