Oden's Eye Alva II Highlighter Palette

I first heard of this indie brand through watching Angelika Oles’ beauty channel on YouTube. Oden’s Eye is a Swedish indie brand and they make Norse mythology themed products. This is one of two highlighter palettes I decided to purchase; I also picked up the two matching eyeshadow palettes. I have already posted about the Solmåne Eyeshadow Palette and Solmåne Highlighter Palette.
ABOUT THE PRODUCT
The packaging doesn’t match the eyeshadow palette, but it is still very beautiful with a light blue theme and it does have a little silver elf printed next to the palette name. The design and imagery is so unique to the brand. Alva means elf in Swedish. This palette represents the four elemental spirits; Earth, Water, Air and Fire.

You get four 7.5g highlighters in a metallic finish.

THE SHADES & SWATCHES
Salamander - diamond base with pink, gold & silver glitters (fire)
Undiene - light water gloss blue (water)
Gnome - metallic pink gold (earth)
Sylphs - duo-chrome purple (air/wind)

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The packaging is stunningly beautiful (it is my favourite design out of all four palettes I purchased) and the formula is fantastic, just like the Solmåne highlighter palette. All four shades are beautiful on the skin and they can be built up for more intensity. You do not get a colour cast at all; you just get the beautiful beam when the light hits your cheekbones. The shade Salamander could also be used as a topper shade, it is intensely glittery and not for the faint of heart. Undiene doesn’t look as blue on your cheekbones as it does in the pan. It reads more white with a hint of blue and it gives you the glass look effect. Gnome would look gorgeous with a tan. I tried it with a natural face and it did look pretty, but I feel like that if I had a slight tan and wore full glam, it would look more stunning. Sylphs is also a beautiful cool toned shade, perfect for a winter look. I absolutely recommend you give this palette a try and don’t forget to pick up the Solmåne one too. I really hope OE come out with more highlighter palettes soon. I would still love a nice sort of pearly green champagne highlighter or a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lucky Clover Highlighter. If I really had to pick between the two OE highlighter palettes I purchased, I would probably choose Solmåne as it is more wearable to me but I do prefer the packaging theme for the Alva II one.

You can purchase the Oden's Eye Alva II Highlighter Palette for £25.00 ($33.00) exclusively from OdensEye.se.

Violet Voss X Laura Lee Palette

After being blown away by the Holy Grail Palette, I just couldn’t pass on this one! The shade selection doesn’t appeal to me as much, but I know the quality will be there. Also, this palette is limited edition so I wouldn’t recommend hesitating if you are interested in it. I believe this palette is a collaboration with a YouTuber called Laura Lee. I don’t know anything about Laura, but from what I gather she makes beauty videos. The palette design is similar to the Holy Grail Palette but the colour scheme is different, but it still has the holographic effect on the packaging. It has a rectangular shape to it and it is slightly bulky and has a little weight to it. It has a magnetic closing and when you lift the lid it reveals the eyeshadow pans and a mirror. The packaging colour scheme is black and silver. You get twenty 36g eyeshadows in a variety of shades and finishes. Serial Sampler #42

I have wanted to try this fragrance for a very long time and I have seen the advertisements with Charlize Theron countless times over the years. For some reason, I just didn’t look for it to test so I thought it was about time I did. I decided to purchase a sample online.   It is J’adore by Christian Dior and it is a 1ml spritzer sample of the eau de parfum.   “ J’adore’s original composition is a sophisticated harmony blossoming from Comoro Islands Ylang-Ylang and Damascus Rose Essences and Jasmine Sambac Absolute. ” Launched: 1999   Type: Floral Fruity / Feminine Notes Top: Pear, Melon, Magnolia, Peach, Mandarin Orange and Bergamot. Middle: Jasmine, Lily-Of-The-Valley, Tuberose, Freesia, Rose, Orchid, Plum and Violet. Base: Musk, Vanilla, Blackberry and Cedar. My assumption before testing this fragrance is that it would smell like an old classic (old lady) floral. It is very floral, but you do get the hit of the fresh fruity notes. I can mostly detect the Magnoli...

Becca's Babble's #4: My Current Favourite Songs

Photo: TheDJ.co.uk I thought I would post about something different today, something not beauty related. I have found myself listening to more music lately, seeing as though I have more time on my hands whilst the UK is on a sort of lockdown and I cannot go to work. By listening to more music, I mean more of the songs I have downloaded. I don’t really get to hear much new music as I do not listen to the radio or watch music channels on the TV. I am also kind of old school with music. I actually download the songs onto my PC instead of using a music streaming service. I just personally find it easier; I can then copy the songs to my phone. Streaming sites tend to delete their content after a while, but if you have the songs downloaded, you can never lose them until you delete them. I do subscribe to Amazon Music for my Echo Dot though, but I do find it incredibly frustrating when Alexa doesn’t understand what I want her to play, even though I am saying it in plain English!! Anyway...
